Abstract

The waters of northern Papua are ideal for supporting the economic growth of algae. A review of 11 references, including FPIK student theses (54.55%) and 5 PKL reports (45.45%), showed that Raja Ampat has the highest number of algae species (27 species), followed by Manokwari (10 species) and Biak (8 species). Yapen waters have 7 algae species, while Nabire and South Manokwari each have 2 algae species. Overall, 56 algae species were found in the six regions. Green algae (16 species) and red algae (16 species) have the same number of species, while brown algae have fewer species (4 species). Raja Ampat has the highest percentage of algae species (48.21%), indicating that this region has the highest algae diversity compared to other regions.
